Hand surgery is a large field and covers procedures as diverse as carpal tunnel releases, tendon- and trigger finger releases, ligament reconstructions, ganglion excision, tendon transfers and Dupuytren's contracture excision. Injudicious surgery and incorrect treatment can have serious consequences, such as stiffness and pain, with devastating functional results. An integrated team approach is required for best-practice rehabilitation and this facility is provided by the Constantia Hand Unit.
