Knee Ligament Injuries

Ligament injuries around the knee may be complex if they occur together. Diagnostic accuracy and correct decision-making is necessary to allow (often young) patients with knee ligament injuries to return to top-level sport as soon as possible.

Treatment of Knee Ligament Injuries

Complete knee ligament injuries are often reconstructed with hamstring- or kneecap tendon grafts. These operations are carried out arthroscopically (keyhole surgery). Repair of knee ligament injuries is rarely indicated. Similar to hand surgery, an integrated management team is needed for rehabilitation, in order to ensure best results.
